Important Things to Know for 2011-2012
MRIC Cafeteria plan year is September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012.
NEW National Benefit Services (NBS) is the new Third Party Administrator (TPA) for MRIC for plan year September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012.
NEW NBS Flex Card: If you choose to participate in the Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, you will have the option to elect an NBS Flex Card at no cost to you. For a summary of how the flex card works click on the Benefits and Forms link/Reimbursement Accounts 2011-2012.
Loyal American Cancer: Current employees can only enroll during the MRIC annual enrollment window of 6/20/11 – 8/26/11. The group cancer plan is subject to a12-month pre-existing condition exclusion.
MRIC Unum Educator Disability: New coverage and changes in coverage are subject to pre-existing condition exclusions. The following plan changes are effective 9/1/2011 to the MRIC disability:
The Benefit Integration Period has reduced to 6 months.
The mininum benefit has reduced to the greater of 10% or $100.

Region 16 Disability (REGION 16 ONLY): The core STD plan is an employer paid benefit for eligible employees of Region 16. The Buy-up STD and LTD can be elected on a voluntary basis by eligible employees of Region 16. New coverage is subject to evidence of insurability if applying for coverage after your initial eligibility period.
Region 18 UNUM Disability (REGION 18 ONLY: The Long Term Disability plan is an employer paid benefit for eligible employees of Region 18. The Short Term Disability can be elected on a voluntary basis. New coverage is subject to evidence of insurability if applying for coverage after your initial eligibility period.
Dearborn National Group Voluntary Term Life Currently insured employees and their spouse can increase their current level of coverage by one increment (10,000) up to a maximum 100,000 for employees and up to 50,000 for spouse, based on salary, without evidence of insurability. Evidence of insurability is required for late entrants or for increases in coverage over these amounts.
Plan offerings to MRIC employees for 2011-2012 plan year include: MRIC self-funded Dental Plan with CIGNA, Superior Vision, Unum Disability, Loyal American Cancer, Dearborn National Group Term Life and Accident (AD&D), Texas Life and Flexible Spending Accounts. |
