Important Things to Know for 2010-2011
- MRIC Cafeteria plan year is September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011.
- MGM is the Third Party Administrator (TPA) for MRIC for plan year September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011.

- A Stored Value Flex Card is being added for Healthcare Reimbursement expenses by certain MRIC ESC’s effective 9.1.10. For a summary of how this card works click on the Benefits and Forms link/Reimbursement Accounts. The cost of the card is $1.50 per month and is either employee or employer funded, depending on your ESC (when applicable). See FSA Limit worksheet under Benefits and Forms link to see if your ESC participates in the Flex Card.
- CIGNA Dental: Dental Rates are increasing effective 9/1/2010 for Employee+Spouse, Employee+Child(ren) and Employee+Family coverage. The following plan changes are also being implemented effective 09/01/2010:
1. A 12-Month waiting period for Major and Ortho services will now apply for all NEW enrollees in the dental plan.
2. The following services were previously covered in-network at 80% and will now be covered at 50%: Root Canal Therapy/Endodontics, Osseous Surgery, and Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing.
- Loyal American Cancer: To enroll in the group cancer plan, you must do so during the MRIC annual enrollment window of 6/28/10 – 8/27/10. The group cancer plan is subject to a 12-month pre-existing condition exclusion.
- Unum Disability: New coverage and changes in coverage are subject to pre-existing condition exclusions. For information on this plan, click on the benefits and forms link/Disability/UNUM Disability.
- Principal Disability (REGION 16 ONLY): The core STD plan is an employer paid benefit for eligible employees of Region 16. The Buy-up STD and LTD can be elected on a voluntary basis by eligible employees of Region 16. New coverage is subject to evidence of insurability if applying for coverage after your initial eligibility period.
- Ft. Dearborn Voluntary Term Life: Currently insured employees and their spouse can increase their current level of coverage by one increment (10,000) up to a maximum 100,000 for employees and up to 50,000 for spouse, based on salary, without evidence of insurability. Evidence of insurability is required for late entrants or for increases in coverage over these amounts.
- Plan offerings to MRIC employees for 2010-2011 plan year include: MRIC self-funded Dental Plan with CIGNA, Superior Vision, Unum Disability, Loyal American Cancer, Fort Dearborn Term Life and Accident(AD&D), Texas Life and Flexible Spending Accounts.
